Simon

Simon's Profile Picture

Simon started his career with a foundation course in Chartered Accountancy at what is now known as the Sheffield Hallam University. He then entered the banking industry gaining his full bank qualifications in the early 1980s. Working at Midland Bank followed by time at TSB where he was repeatedly promoted due to exceeding sales targets, winning a trip to Venice and rapidly reducing bad debts at another office.

Following the shake-out of banking managerial staff in the 1990s Simon became the first franchisee in a debt counselling business and later became the national trainer, due developing his own marketing methods.

Time spent with Mansfield Lions, the FSB and as a school governor had secured Simon’s habit of a giver of his time. He then used this time to answer questions on LinkedIn for users and has received acknowledgement from LinkedIn itself on his profile.

Simon met John Kirk through sharing an Office building in central Nottingham which led to the creation of telecoms company Linctel Ltd in 1996. Despite John’s retirement from the business their friendship endures to this day.

Simon continues his ventures in communications alongside his new business partner, Damon a prospective telecoms customer turned colleague. Their shared passion for better customer service in business drives the success of Incoming Enquiries.

It has been said that...

"An entrepreneur is someone who works twelve hours a day for themselves, so they don’t have to spend eight hours a day working for someone else".

Damon has been referred to as a serial entrepreneur, having been involved in over ten Limited Companies in the UK over the last two decades primarily as a Corporate Director; advising on everything from Marketing and Technology to Business Finance and Investing. Throughout all these businesses he has never been prepared to compromise on the absolutely essential need for excellent customer service. Sales figures go up and down but Customer Service is forever.

Damon worked for a number of tech start ups and innovative businesses in the mid 1990s discovering he is an accomplished sales person (with the commission cheques to prove it), despite these successes he didn’t have the stomach for some of the unethical practices he saw which compelled him to begin working for himself and beginning his entrepreneurship journey.

He has started companies providing webdesign and marketing, hosting and domain names, local business portals and community websites, and he was at the forefront of both Search Engine Optimisation and Affiliate Marketing at the beginning of the Millenium.

He became an ISP (internet service provider) offering internet access with a specific focus on championing rural communities who rarely had access to the same faster technologies available in our towns and cities. He has a passion for Open Source software and community engagement.
